PVC Plastisols
Both plasticisers and fillers can contribute to unacceptable moisture levels in plastisols which can lead to a variety of problems in automotive underseals, sealants and mastics, sound deadening compounds, fabric coating, carpet backing and foamed products.
The use of Innovox calcium oxide prevents corrosion of plastisol-coated metal parts, improves adhesion to metal and other substrates in foamed products.
Addition rates depend on the amount of plasticiser and filler in the formulation and could carry between 2 and 10 phr.

Polyolefin Compounds
Most fillers within Polyolefin compounds contains some moisture and this can cause porosity in compounds where there are high filler levels present (>25%).
The use of Innovox calcium oxide reduces porosity by the reaction with any moisture present.

Hydroscopic Polymers
Polymides and ABS are inherently hydroscopic and the moisture absorbed can lead to surface defects such as “silver streaking” in moulded products. To avoid prolonged oven drying, particularly for polymides where the polymer/water bond is particularly strong, Innovox calcium oxide is invaluable to remove any moisture absorbed.

Polymer Recycling
Reclaimed thermoplastics have often been stored in damp conditions and can contain significant amounts moisture. Oven drying requires capital expenditure, high energy inputs and extra labor costs. These high potential costs can be reduced by using Innovox calcium oxide in the recycling process and removing moisture from the polymers the be recycled.
