Environmental Engineer

Singleton Birch Limited are the largest independent Lime suppliers in the UK.  An exciting opportunity has arisen based in our Compliance team for an Environmental and Sustainability Engineer.  The main purpose of the role is to actively support the Environmental Manager and Project Team for the delivery of the legal and operational environmental requirements and sustainability activities for Singleton Birch Limited.

The Role:

The successful candidate will play an integral part in our team and be responsible for:

Environmental systems and compliance :

    •  Collate, check and report environmental data (atmospheric emissions, water, waste, energy, landfill, boreholes samplings…).
    • Manage, maintain and develop monitoring and reporting systems to improve accuracy and efficiency of environmental and sustainability activities.
    • Maintain records and systems for UK Emission Trading Scheme to support verification visit, ensuring all data streams retain their integrity and are checked as required.
    • Understand Environment Agency compliance issues and permit requirements at company sites.

Sustainability

    • Develop Life Cycle Assessments, Life Cycle Inventories, Environmental Product Declarations as required by the business.
    • Support compliance with Carbon Reduction Commitments, Climate Agreements, develop and support Sustainability and Decarbonisation roadmaps and projects as directed by the Sustainability Director.
    • Monitor energy and water resources to ensure they are being used efficiently and support ISO 50001 certification.

What we require:

Environment or sustainability higher education qualification with engineering background or chemical engineering degree. Key skills :  Initiative / Self-motivation, technical and computing skills, attention to details, team work

The role is based at our site in Melton Ross.

Electrical Shift Engineer

Singleton Birch Limited are the largest independent Lime Operators in the UK. Running 4 Maerz Kilns in a 24/7 operation producing Calcium Oxide to both internal and external processes and customers. The company in recent years have focused on diversification for the benefits of the company and its customers, with a vision to become a more diverse company going forward to secure the proud status of Singleton Birch Limited.
The Role:
As a Shift Engineer you will play a pivotal role within the Operational site team, reporting into the Electrical Maintenance Engineer you will work as part of a team of multi-skilled engineers in the delivery of the Engineering strategy to support the ongoing progression of the site performance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Routine PPM’s & Safety Inspections
• Attend, Diagnose and Repair electrical issues across multiple plants & equipment
• Install & fault find on AC Drives
• PLC Fault Finding
• Instrumentation Installs & Calibrations
• Drive & maintain quality engineering solutions & standards
• Ensure all plant equipment is maintained to standards set by the Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Qualifications & Experience:
• Time served Electrician with NVQ level 3 as a minimum
• 18th Edition & IOSH Managing Safely is desirable.
Knowledge of
• Allen Bradley Drives & PLC’s,
• Siemen’s Instrumentation
• Control Circuits & Pilz Safety Relay’s

Assistant Engineer

The Role:

As Assistant Engineer you will play a pivotal role within the Operational site team, reporting into the Maintenance Manager you will assist him in leading the mechanical maintenance within Singleton Birch. Taking the lead on larger maintenance tasks to free up the Plant Engineer to carry out their duties. You will assist the Quarry Plant Engineer in leading the maintenance on a Night in the Quarry every 3rd week. Working a rotating shift pattern with 2 others, you will work 2 weeks of days and 1 week of nights.

Stepping up into the Plant Engineer’s role to cover holidays, training, and sickness.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Routine maintenance
  • Repairs as necessary to ensure that equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Inspections and safety checks
  • Execute the maintenance plan across all areas of site
  • Ensure all plant equipment is maintained and performs to levels that do not impact customer service or compromise EH&S

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a HNC or relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering. This role would suit someone who is capable of motivating others to deliver results. Must be able to work collaboratively at all levels within the company, also with suppliers and contractors.

IOSH Managing Safely is desirable, as well as general IT skills.
