 Job description

 The Head of Supply Chain will ensure that Singleton Birch has all the key materials and inputs required to meet our objectives. They will ensure the supply chain is optimised for reliability, customer responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.

 The Head of Supply Chain will ensure a robust Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) process is in place to maximize our ability to respond to market drivers and production availability.

 Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manages supply chain activities including procurement, sales and operations planning, inventory management, warehousing, materials management, and vendor selection
  • Works with the Supply Chain & Technical Director to establish key performance indicators to monitor and actively monitors and makes recommendations for performance improvement
  • Ensures supply chain is optimised for reliability, customer responsiveness, and cost competitiveness
  • Ensures stock rationalisation and optimisation is undertaken
  • Develops procurement strategy and plan for key materials and inputs including gas, electricity, carbon, energy feedstocks, equipment, parts, and key materials
  • Work with the Sustainability and Compliance Manager ensure all required energy and carbon data is submitted as part of the UK ETS and ESOS requirements
  • Work with the Sustainability and Compliance Manager to ensure cost effective sustainably sourced materials.
  • Cultivates key supplier relationships to ensure long term support of business objectives
  • Analyse category spend and develop management strategies, implement supplier engagement initiatives, and manage cost levers across multiple time horizons
  • Drafts, negotiate and execute RFQs and/or contracts for assigned categories ensuring consistency to key industry trends, market standards and include key terms & conditions provisions
  • Ensures that sourcing of materials is in compliance with the companies ESG guidelines. Owner of the Singleton Birch supply chain risk assessment
  • Collaborates with the Sales, Product Management, Operations and Engineering teams to develop supply and demand forecasts and conduct recuring cross-functional sales and operations planning process
  • Works with operations to develop and maintain rolling production planning schedules
  • Ensures supply and demand balance and makes proactive recommendations on sales, production, and inventory targets
  • Assures that departmental and support personnel are focused on continuous improvement of products and processes
  • Responsible for materials resource planning to ensure operations reliability and agility
  • Promotes alignment by understanding and communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the organisation
  • Participates in supplier and vendor negotiations
  • Ensures business complies with requirements of EII energy exemption and rebate schemes
  • Expand the use of internal data and market data as a strategic enabler
  • Serves as functional subject expect for supply chain systems ensuring data integrity and optimised use
  • Responsible for the Company’s fleet management in conjunction with the Finance Department
  • Sundry sales
  • Working with the MLC supply chain team to leverage global supply chain opportunities

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • MCIPS qualified or currently studying towards this
  • Experience in a similar role preferably within the manufacturing industry
  • Any other activity that is commensurate with the scope and level of the role
  • Ability to manage and develop a procurement function
  • Awareness and control of inventory and supply planning
  • Experience of using/developing an ERP system for the supply chain function
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Build successful relationships across key functional areas
